Understand WCE’s credit system, including credit banking, transfer, and accumulation policies.
Typically, in University framework, one credit is assigned for one hour of instruction per week through lectures or tutorials. For laboratory sessions, mini-projects, or seminars, one credit is awarded for every two hours of student engagement per week. For undergraduate students admitted in the academic year 2023-24 and beyond, 174 credits must be earned to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline with a Multi-Disciplinary Minor. Whereas for earning a Masters one need to earn 80 credits in the span of minimum four semesters. For Diploma we follow MSBTE curriculum.
WCE follows a choice-based credit system, offering partial flexibility within its autonomous academic university programs. Students can select courses from a range of Open Electives, Multi-Disciplinary streams, and Program Electives. Students may select the best courses or combination of courses to suit their aptitude and quest for knowledge.

Additionally, WCE is part of the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) system, launched by the Government of India. As a result, these credits are digitally recorded in unique student accounts, which are recognized nationwide. All academic credits earned through WCE, partnering institutes and online approved platforms are stored, acknowledged, maintained, accumulated, transferred, validated, and can be redeemed for the purpose of degree certification.
In accordance with UGC regulations, it is mandatory for all students seeking admission to any programs, not only at WCE but also at other universities, to have the following documents in place:
Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) ID: The Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) is a pivotal initiative by the UGC aimed at facilitating credit transfer between educational institutions.
