Industrial Testing Consultancy Cell (ITCC)

Objective

To benchmark Testing and Consultancy activities and increase revenue of WCE with optimum utilisation of resources and to achieve  the targets kept by Institute in IDP for IRG

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

  1. Enhancing Industry-Academia Collaboration
    • Build and strengthen relationships with industry partners by identifying and addressing their Testing and consultancy needs.
    • Promote the WCE’s’s capabilities in testing and consultancy to industries through targeted outreach programs.
  2. Expanding Testing and Consultancy Portfolio
    • Develop strategies to attract new consultancy projects by identifying emerging industry domains and leveraging existing expertise.
    • Introduce innovative Testing projects and consultancy services tailored to industry demands.
  3. Infrastructure Utilization
    • Maximize the utilization of newly acquired equipment and infrastructure (hardware/software) for industrial consultancy  and testing purposes.
    • Create awareness among industries about the availability and capabilities of university resources.
  4. Operational Efficiency and Systems Improvement
    • Oversee the automation of payment procedures, activity tracking, and report generation processes to ensure timely delivery of services.
    • Streamline the testing and consultancy process for improved efficiency and better user experience.
  5. Student and Alumni Engagement
    • Foster a culture of innovation by involving students and alumni in consultancy and testing  projects.
    • Provide students with hands-on opportunities to work on real-world industry problems, thereby enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial skills.
  6. Testing Recognition and Incentivization
    • Develop and implement schemes, policies  to incentivize faculty and staff  participating in industrial consultancy projects.
    • Recognize and reward innovation and impactful Testing outcomes.
  7. Monitoring and Reporting
    • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of testing, consultancy, and activities.
    • Regularly review the centre’s performance and propose measures for continuous improvement.

Testing Facilities

Material Testing

  • Universal Testing Machine (UTM): 1000 kN capacity for testing tensile strength, compressive strength, and flexural strength of materials.
  • Impact Testing Machine: Charpy and Izod impact testing for determining toughness of materials.
  • Hardness Testing Machine: Rockwell, Brinell, and Vickers hardness testing for determining hardness of materials.

Environmental Testing

  • Air Quality Monitoring System: Equipped with sensors for measuring particulate matter (PM), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and carbon monoxide (CO).
  • Water Quality Analysis Kit: Equipped with instruments for measuring pH, turbidity, conductivity, and bacterial contamination.

Mechanical Testing

  • Vibration Testing Machine: For testing vibration characteristics of mechanical components.
  • Noise Testing Equipment: For measuring noise levels of mechanical equipment.

Computing Facilities

  • Software
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Software: ANSYS, Abaqus, and Nastran for simulating structural, thermal, and dynamic behavior of systems.
    • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Software: Fluent, CFX, and OpenFOAM for simulating fluid flow, heat transfer, and mass transport.
    • Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Software: SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and CATIA for designing and modeling mechanical systems.
